I wanted to document the universal human connection with water, so I used photos where the subjects were all facing towards the water - symbolising this connection, identification and fascination. To further demonstrate this universal human connection with water, I used quotes from various notable figures across different time periods, showing that this connection with water is something timeless that we all share. The quotes show that this is something of a spiritual nature, as well as the fact that physically, humans are made up of about 60% water.
These photos are taken on a mixture of 35mm analogue photos and on a phone, over the course of 7 years, in different locations across the world and of people of differing nationalities.
