In this photo series, I wanted to document the concept of connection. I gathered photos where I got a sense of this feeling, shown through shared eye contact and through body language between subjects or towards me capturing the shot.
In some photos, the connection feels light and in others the connection appears more intense. This could show that the way people experience the feeling of connection to be subjective, and that it is changeable at different points in time and depending on who with. For research into this subjective concept, I looked into the objective meaning of the word and conducted a public survey via social media to ask people what they thought of or felt when they heard the word. This subjective and changeable nature of 'Connection' was demonstrated by people's associations. For example, 'I think of alignment of my inner being with my surroundings, living my truth and in communion with my soul, body and nature. And in community with like-minded souls.' -Eva Reida, Personal Coach from Munich, Germany. And 'Connection prompts visions of friends and family. The symbiosis of beings. From the lichen coating the tree branch to the mycelium networks in the soil.' Natalie Bourn, Devon, England.
